First off, we have seen pictures and heard that many of our students have already helped with hurricane clean-up in our area. Several of these students have helped remove debris and trash from yards and even helped move people out of their homes that were directly affected by flooding in the area.
Also, Seniors will be collecting non-perishable food, water, clothing and homegoods for our local families as their Government community service project. Through this, seniors in need of community service hours can stay after school and help organize the donations so they can be distributed to CHS families in need. Any items that our families do not need will be donated to neighboring schools and the food pantry to support their efforts. We will also be collecting non-perishable items at Friday night's home football game against Oakleaf HS. Boxes will be located at both ticket booths!
Lastly, in the spirit of homecoming week, each class(Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior and Senior) will be collecting monetary donations that will go towards helping our community and those in need. Think how far $3 or $4 from every student would go!! The class that collects the most will receive points towards the Homecoming Competition held each year.
We are excited about these opportunities for our students to give back to their community. In many cases, they're actually helping their classmates and teachers right here at Clay High School!
